Mr. Met is Voted America’s Favorite Sports Mascot . . . Here’s the Top 10

Apparently, Americans AREN’T freaked out by a guy who has a giant baseball for a head, or represents a sports team that hasn’t won anything since the REAGAN administration. In a new survey, the New York Mets’ mascot Mr. Met was voted America’s favorite sports mascot. The rankings were based on awareness, likability, and recognizablity. (–That’s not a word, but it should be, right?)

Here’s the full top 10. Although there are actually 11, because there was a tie for 10. NO college mascots made the team.

#1.) Mr. Met, New York Mets.

#2.) Phillie Phanatic, Philadelphia Phillies.

#3.) Benny the Bull, Chicago Bulls.

#4.) San Diego Chicken, who people associate with the San Diego Padres.

#5.) Wally the Green Monster, Boston Red Sox.

#6.) The Racing Sausages, Milwaukee Brewers.

#7.) The Gorilla, Phoenix Suns.

#8.) Billy the Marlin, Miami Marlins.

#9.) The Coyote, San Antonio Spurs.

#10.) A tie between The Racing Presidents from the Washington Nationals, and Rocky, for the Denver Nuggets.
