His face and name are synonymous with some of the greatest moments in television history. Not only a transcendent figure in the annals of baseball television, he is a legendary personality known and loved by generations of Americans for his work on such institutions as The Today Show, The Tonight Show and the numerous game shows, dog shows and talk shows he has hosted.

And now, this legendary Baseball Hall of Fame broadcaster is set to be profiled in FOX Sports Arizona’s acclaimed “In My Own Words” series when “In My Own Words – Joe Garagiola” debuts on Sunday, July 25 at 4 and 10 p.m. as part of a “Catcher’s Weekend” on the network.

This 30-minute biography chronicles not only his baseball career as a catcher with the Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs and Giants from 1946-54, but his amazing journey in broadcasting after his playing days ended. He recently sat down with FOX Sports Arizona’s Todd Walsh to discuss a variety of personal topics in the famous story-telling manner Garagiola is known for, including his Forrest Gump-like existence and all the remarkable people and places he has encountered along the way.

Garagiola also delves into how his recent health scare gave him newfound perspective and appreciation for the life he has lived and answers the question posed by Walsh “are you an ex-player, broadcaster or entertainer?” This is the 31st In My Own Words program produced by FOX Sports Arizona.

This In My Own Words show is the highlight of “Catchers Weekend” on FOX Sports Arizona. During Saturday’s D-backs-Giants telecast, the network will produce “Behind The Mask” to instruct viewers about what it takes to play the catchers position in Major League Baseball. The coverage begins at 4:30 p.m.

The D-backs starting catcher will wear a microphone during the game, and the reserve catcher will be interviewed in-game from the dugout to offer his insight into playing the position. In addition, Joe Garagiola is the game analyst and will discuss the position he played, and former D-backs catcher Kelly Stinnett will be the analyst on the Miller Lite Diamondbacks Live pre-game show and Qwest Diamondbacks Live post-game show.
