Cardinals come to terms with 2nd Round Draft Pick Daryl Washington

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed TCU linebackerDARYL WASHINGTON, the team’s second-round (47th overall) selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, to a four-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed

Washington (6-3, 234) was named a first-team All-American and earned All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior in 2009 after leading the Horned Frogs with a career-high 109 tackles (68 solos) to go along with three interceptions, two sacks and 11 tackles for loss. His 109 tackles last season were good for fifth in the Mountain West Conference and were the most tackles by a TCU player since 2004 (Martin Patterson, 131).

The Irving, TX native finished his colligate career by appearing in 50 games (15 starts) with 220 tackles (148 solos), 5.5 sacks, four interceptions, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also blocked four kicks in his career, leading the nation with three blocks in 2007.

Washington’s signing leaves first-round selection defensive tackle Dan Williams (26st overall) as the team’s only draft pick not yet to agree to contract terms.

To make room on the roster for Washington, the Cardinals have released fullback REAGAN MAUI’A.
